Cultivar: Picual (origin - Spain)

 

It’s easy to confuse things, especially when you a pioneer.  At first I thought Picual was not well adapted to this area; but now I think it is more of just a problem of the spot where they were planted being the problem (“run down” soil, competition from very large Douglas fir trees).  In fact, the five Picual trees seem to have made it through our severe winter storm of December 2008 with no damage what-so-ever.  Reken Estate 01/15/09

Green olives.  In the past, Picual has been amongst the first and most colored up olive cultivars - not this year!
