Cultivar: Salonenque (origin - France)
Said to be: freestone, dual purpose but used primarily for cracked green olives, and a self incompatible pollinator.
We have had these Salonenque trees for over a year now, but they did not come through the winter well. Strange, it seems like for most of the "minor" cultivars that their first winter is far more devastating than subsequent ones. Of course, it could also just be the "luck of the draw" in winter severity…

Salonenque has been one of the biggest disappointments of the French cultivars: it just does not appear to be as winter hardy as the others. Of the ten we started with, nine are now dead. however, the one survivor looks pretty decent.
